my project is complete. i’ve spent the past 6 weeks in denmark studying scandinavian design and then the last 3 designing and building this chair. i crafted it from a piece of dry but rough-cut danish maple. the seat is 3mm thick marine-grade nylon rope that cups you like a new pair of hanes. i’m expecting it to go straight into production once the show opens tomorrow evening. see the other 270 degrees of the chair after the jump.

it’s frustrating to come to scandinavia and find shops filled with american products priced at three times their normal cost. it’s even more frustrating when said products are so much better than anything i’ve ever seen stateside. some great things these stagnant american companies should actually sell in america:
